Healing 101: Aligning with Your Highest Self Introduction and Step 1

 

Introduction

If you are reading this, you know that there is something about you that could be different. You are perfect exactly how you are, where you are right now. But most of us have a nagging feeling inside that there is something more or better in store for us. Perhaps we feel like we are capable of something greater than what we are currently doing.

This is where healing comes in. Healing brings the body into alignment with your full potential, Higher Self, Universal Perfectness, God. Energy healing moves your body into closer alignment with your perfect self, your God self. Healing means helping you realize the life you were intended to live.

God energy is fully present in everyone. EVERYONE. This is the life that runs through our body. This is our breath. God energy is our pulse and flow. It’s what animates our system. God is the love that we give and the love we receive. Call it what you will—Universal Energy, Universal Intelligence, God Particle, Source, Life Force, My Aliveness. It is all the same. You choose the name and the image so that it has personal meaning.

Many of us don’t know this. We see God as the man with a beard out there somewhere. We put him in an otherworldly heaven. That is great. God is there too. But, God exists in every one of us. We are each a unique expression that Universal Intelligence wants to experience. If God or Source is the ocean we are the drops that make up the ocean, each one of us is unique and important—fully made up of the contents of ocean.

A person might hesitate to say, “I am God,” afraid that they may be viewed as narcissistic or be locked up somewhere. It might be more easily digestible to say it like Michael Beckwith, “I am a faction of God—made up of God energy.” The truth is . . .  everyone is made up of this God Energy. This Energy flows through us all . . . the doctor, the homeless one, the drug addict, the loving mother. Each is a unique expression/experience of God. Each one has a purpose and place. We are all one. That doesn’t mean we are all supposed to be the SAME. No, it is our uniqueness that is intended to make this world “work.” It will actually work when we honor everyone’s uniqueness and importance.

I am a healer. You can be a healer too. Everyone has the capability of being a healer. What that means is, using energy work, I help you tap into YOU—your God Self, Highest Self, full potential. In this series, I will help you heal yourself by providing tools, instruction and guidance for you to align with your highest self. There are six steps in this series:

Step 1: Look Inside Your Mind

Healing Yourself

There is a plethora of wonderful and effective healing modalities in the world today both western and eastern-based. What healing practitioners know is that healing comes from within. What we are doing is helping the body recognize its own ability to heal. You can heal yourself too. You just need some instruction and support. You need to learn how and then, you can have your own self-healing practice. Remember, you are actually the one that is healing yourself.

Have you ever had a wart? I was instructed by a doctor to stick a small piece of duct tape on it for a week, take it off for a day and do this until it is gone. Sure enough, it took two rounds to get rid of that wart. What was happening is that I was sending a signal to my body saying, “Hey, get rid of this thing.” And it did. My body healed itself. We can all do this with proper instruction and intention.

Think Impeccably

Where does healing start? It begins with healing our thoughts and mind. Thoughts become our reality. We must keep our thoughts impeccable in order to live a vibrantly healthy life. We all know that hypochondriacs keep themselves sick by constantly focusing on sickness. What we focus on is what we get more of in our life. If we focus on love, helping, giving, sharing, that comes back to us as receiving love and help. If we focus on getting and having, we end up with money and things. Not a bad pursuit; but not very fulfilling. If we focus on all the drama in the world, we are filled up with all the drama in the world. If we focus on gratitude and the wonder that surrounds us, guess what? Wonder and things to be grateful for will be all around us. It is so simple.

The Untended Garden

The first step toward self-healing is looking inside your mind to witness what is going that doesn’t serve you. What are the thoughts in your head? What are the tapes that play and inform your behavior? Where did they come from? This process of going inward is productive and self-nourishing, though may also be a bit rough and uncomfortable. This is not a time to judge yourself for what is happening in your mind, merely witness and determine what needs to go—this is healthy discernment.

Focus on yourself for a time. Healing the mind takes self-love, intention and patience. Dr. Lori Eanes likens it to preparing the garden before you plant. Let’s prepare or clean the garden by pulling the weeds, tilling up the soil, removing the debris, and defining its borders. It’s hard work preparing the soil, but worth it in the end. Let’s rake through the soil to see what we uncover. Soon we will determine what we want to grow in our garden and then, plant. Right now, we will prepare the garden.

What does the garden of your mind look like right now? Weeds, dump site, rocks? Is that a can of oil leaking out onto your soil? Take a moment to write down the description of your mind in terms of garden, nature, or what you might find in the untended garden space of your mind. This is YOU. These are your answers, so nothing is wrong.

Beautiful Rose Garden From a Distance

Mine is a rose garden. In fact, it is right outside my window. The roses are very old, planted by the original owner/builder of this house. Some of the roses no longer bloom. Characteristic of hybrid tea roses, these have broken from their graft and now, don’t know how to grow. They are sticking out in all directions with no flowers. They call these Dr. Huey.

The roses that are still growing according to their original graft are standing tall but are being eaten by Japanese beetles. The roses bud out and show their loveliness and glory and then, are attached and eaten by the non-native, iridescent green bugs, leaving them tattered and torn.

Oh yes, there are weed. Not a lot but enough to show that no one is watching very closely or paying much attention to the garden. My husband planted invasive hops along two edges of the garden. In honor of his need for hops as a brewer, I have been carefully pruning the hops off of the roses and nearby grape vines, but they are relentless, all prickly and strangling. Yikes!

Then, we have black spot on the roses. This is a fungus that gets on the leaves mid-summer, turning the leaves yellow and making them drop to the ground. The rose stocks are left all bear and unproductive.

Funny thing, if you look from a distance, the rose garden is gorgeous and something to celebrate. But if you get up close you can see that no one is tending to it. It is trying to be as beautiful as possible. But why work that hard if no one is looking or enjoying the space?

Wowsa! That was intense. That is truly the garden out my window and is my life.

Now, It’s your turn

Take a deep breath, close your eyes and see your mind’s garden. This is what my untended garden looks like:

Now take this same idea and change the words to be real human aspects that currently take up your mind space. While we will not focus long on what is uncomfortable about our lives, we need to do this to unearth the things that are not serving us. This is part of the process of KNOW THYSELF. Soon, we will get to the good stuff that will really get the healing juices flowing. Now, we will focus on who you have become. This is essential so that we know where to go from here and know what sort of healing needs to happen. Print this out and write in the blank spaces or grab a journal or paper and answer using your deepest knowing.

What does a state of HEALED look like to you? If you were fully healed, in complete alignment with your higher self, what would that look like? Would you be experiencing greater abundance? Would you feel more fully loved and accepted? Only YOU know the answer to this.
