The Color Purple: the color of purpose and spirituality
The robes of nobility were purple for centuries. The color purple is our most royal color and is associated with wealth, prosperity, sophistication, opulence, dignity, nobility and prestige. Purple is also the color of good judgment and people seeking spiritual fulfillment.
On a recent trip to the local farmer’s market, my culinary daughter and I discovered this gorgeous eggplant. Nature is filled with beauty in every color.
In my early twenties, purple and chartreuse were the only colors I wore. I was nuts about the color purple. Now that I am older and far more sophisticated, my wardrobe is severely lacking in this important color.
This lovely color combines the stability of blue and the energy of red. Balancing the opposites, purple is believed to be the ideal color. Because of it’s grounding and inspiring nature, it is helpful when trying to re-balance one’s life.
Crown Chakra Color
Purple is the color of the crown chakra. It suggests perfection, oneness with God, divine wisdom, purpose, bliss, understanding and enlightenment. Violet encourages spiritual connection, mastery, focus, and imagination. It is said to relieve constant worry. Purple is the color of gratitude and healing.
Physiologically, this color stimulates the brain activity used in problem solving. It creates a peaceful environment by calming over-active energy. Purple is good for migraines.
Negatively, purple, when overused in a common setting, it is associated with putting on airs and being artificial. It is considered a fashion color and comes and goes on the scene of “in” colors. The color purple has been shown to suppress the appetite, making it a poor choice for restaurants and dining areas.
Purple, the color of mourning among many cultures, meets with disapproval in six Asian countries. If your business plan includes international aspirations, specifically to the East, avoid using purple in your logo and marketing materials.
How to use purple/violet to affect your life:
The color purple produces an environment conducive to meditation and peace of mind. Painting a wall purple or draping oneself in a violet Pashina wrap will enhance your meditation practice or get those creative juices flowing.
What to Wear to a Job Interview
When deciding what to wear to a job interview, it would be best to use purple sparingly. Unless you are interviewing for a position as a minister or theologian, it is best to stick with blues, greens and pinks. Even lavender is too girly for an interview. It is like using a high, ethereal voice, which you would never do in an interview.
When you wear violet, you say to the world, “I am consciously living my divine purpose.” and “I am in complete harmony.”
Purple Gemstones
Purple gemstones should be worn to open the third eye chakra, increasing divine wisdom and understanding. They help during meditation because they sharpen psychic awareness and aid in connecting with your higher self. These gems include alexandrite, amethyst, fluorite, and purpurite. Clear gems, like diamonds and clear quartz, serve the same purpose as the purple stones.
